SEO and GEO for Jordanian businesses

Should a Jordanian business invest in SEO or GEO?

Build the shared foundation first. Search engines and AI assistants both need crawlable pages, clear entity facts, useful content, and credible references. SEO helps pages compete in search results. GEO helps answer systems understand and cite the business. The right split depends on how customers discover the category and which foundation is currently weak.

SEO and GEO share most of their technical and editorial foundation. The useful question is which part of that foundation is weak and how customers already discover the category.

Treat crawler files and structured data as aids to understanding, not shortcuts to authority. The visible page and the sources around it still have to support the answer.

The criteria that actually matter

1. What they share

Both depend on pages that can be fetched, understood, and connected to a real entity. Correct canonicals, a reliable sitemap, server-rendered content, useful headings, consistent contact facts, and relevant third-party mentions help both.

2. What GEO adds

AI answer systems need direct answers and enough context to use them safely. Structured data can clarify the entity and relationships. Answer-shaped pages make a fact easier to extract. Optional files such as llms.txt can organise important material, but they do not create authority by themselves.

3. A practical order

Fix crawl and index problems. Make entity facts consistent across the site and trusted profiles. Improve the pages that answer real buying questions. Add structured data that matches the visible content. Review which search results and AI answers already influence the category, then build credible references outside the site.

Frequently asked

Does GEO replace SEO?

No. GEO builds on much of the same technical and editorial work. Search and answer systems package information differently, so the emphasis changes, but weak crawlability and weak evidence hurt both.

How long does GEO take?

There is no honest universal timeline. Technical changes can be discovered after a crawler returns. Consistent citation depends on the strength of the page, the sources around it, the question being asked, and the answer system itself. Track visibility over time instead of promising a date.
